NASA photos of Southern California fires

NASA has some excellent photos of the Southern California wildfires at

their website - click on the one below to see the giant version.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger just addressed the media - surely the

fire crews are doing everything they can though the situation does not

seem to be getting any better.

Having lived there for many years, I can attest to the power of the

Santa Ana winds at this time of year - usually it just screws up your

golf game, but fires are all too common.

For about the fifth time today, I've heard someone ask if there might

be any relationship between cratering home prices and the severity of

the fires - if there is, given the chaos and the mass evacuations

(300,000? 500,000?), it will probably never be known with any

certainty.
