NASA photos of Southern California fires
NASA has some excellent photos of the Southern California wildfires at
their website - click on the one below to see the giant version.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger just addressed the media - surely the
fire crews are doing everything they can though the situation does not
seem to be getting any better.
Having lived there for many years, I can attest to the power of the
Santa Ana winds at this time of year - usually it just screws up your
golf game, but fires are all too common.
For about the fifth time today, I've heard someone ask if there might
be any relationship between cratering home prices and the severity of
the fires - if there is, given the chaos and the mass evacuations
(300,000? 500,000?), it will probably never be known with any
certainty.
See Barry's Big Picture blog for additional resources and ways to
help.
