Record flight, NASA at Mount San Jacinto College

This historical marker used to be located on Cottonwood between Warren

Road and Sanderson. It is no longer there.

This historic moment created a relationship between the San Jacinto

Valley, and Russia. For those of you that don't know San Jacinto used

to be the administrative center of Riverside county, also called the

'County Seat'.

In the early 1990's a cosmonaut, and astronaut after returning from a

joint mission to the I.S.S (International Space Station) came to Mount

San Jacinto College. Yes NASA came to MSJC. I attended this historic

event, thinking they would tell about studies they've made, and

possible advancements in science. Instead their presentation focused

mainly, on Earth. Very specifically the border of Mexico and the

United States. They showed pictures from space, and asked the crowd as

each successive frame was closer to the Earths surface. When it became

clear it was the border between Mexico and the U.S. they talked real

slow and said see how from Space it is all connected. You can't see

any borders from here.

Why the Historical Marker was removed, I don't know. I am hoping it

was moved to the new fire station across the road to protect it from

vandalism. The missing marker gave me a reason to share a bit of
