NASA dubs space shuttle replacement 'Orion' - space - 23 August 2006 -
New Scientist Space
"Orion is the new name for the spaceship NASA is developing to replace
the space shuttle and carry astronauts to the Moon, NASA confirms. The
new name echoes that of a spacecraft in the film 2001: A Space
Odyssey, and of a cancelled US nuclear propulsion project."
It's a shame it's not more high-tech looking, I'd always imagined
something from Buck Rogers replacing the shuttle, instead we have
Apollo 13 on steroids. Still, anything that takes man back to the moon
has to be a good thing.
